About the project

The acclaimed IMF DataMapper offers easy access to statistics from the World Economic Outlook and other databases of the International Monetary Fund.

We designed a tool that helps the IMF reach expert and non-expert audiences alike. It had 2.8 million unique visitors over the last two years. Users visualize trends over time, compare countries, download data and images of map and chart. The IMF DataMapper has an indicator view (timeseries for all countries) as well as a country/region/analytical group view (bringing together all indicators for the specific area). The IMF DataMapper is pulling its data from the IMF data warehouse (SDMX).

We developed the first version of the IMF DataMapper in 2007. Since then, we have been creating new features and adapting to latest technologies. In 2020, we aligned the visual design with the new corporate design of the IMF website.
